About The Pretty Healthy Life
Hi there, I’m Olivia — the cook, writer, photographer, and recipe tester behind The Pretty Healthy Life.
This blog started in my kitchen, the way most food blogs do — with a lot of trial, a lot of error, and a freezer full of “we’ll definitely eat that later.” I’ve always loved cooking, but when life got busier, I needed recipes that were faster, healthier, and didn’t require ingredients I’d never use again. So I started creating my own.
The Pretty Healthy Life is the result: a growing collection of family-friendly recipes that are simple enough for a weeknight, healthy enough to feel good about, and tasty enough that even the pickiest eaters at the table will ask for seconds.
What This Blog Is About
Every recipe here is tested in my own kitchen — usually more than once — before it goes live. I focus on:
Real, accessible ingredients you can find at any grocery store
Balanced meals that lean healthier without sacrificing flavor
Clear, step-by-step instructions anyone can follow
A mix of comfort food, fresh salads, crockpot meals, and lighter dinners
You won’t find 40-ingredient recipes or anything that requires a deep fryer you don’t own. Just good food that works for real life.
What “Pretty Healthy” Means to Me
I’m not a nutritionist, and I don’t pretend to be. “Pretty healthy” is my honest middle ground — meals that use whole ingredients most of the time, lean into vegetables and lean proteins, and still leave room for pasta, cheese, and a good dessert when the mood strikes. Balance over restriction, always.
A Few Things About Me
I cook for my family every day, and they’re my toughest critics.
I drink way too much coffee.
My favorite recipes on the site right now are the Creamy Chicken Orzo Bake and the Summer Corn Salad with Avocado.
I believe the best dinners are the ones you can actually pull off on a Tuesday.
